Shell & Turcas Petrol A.Ş. KSS Projeleri

Shell’de Kadın Enerjisi

Since the day it started with "Women's Energy at Shell", which was launched as a first in Türkiye in March 2018 to encourage women's employment in the fuel sector, more than 10,000 women have been employed at Shell & Turcas fuel stations. Setting out with the goal of providing employment opportunities for 5,000 women by 2023, Women's Energy at Shell has now become an important part of the operation and has initiated a transformation in the sector.

At Shell & Turcas, where 42 percent of the Board of Directors and 50 percent of the Executive Board are female leaders, efforts continue to strengthen the place of women in business life with the belief that there is no woman or man in the profession.

Shell, which has always adopted the principle of achieving "firsts" in the sector and "inspiring" the sector, has pioneered a transformation and inspired the fuel sector with "Women's Energy at Shell". With the "Women’s Energy at Shell" initiative launched on March 9, 2018, under the auspices of the Ministry of Energy and Natural Resources and the Ministry of Family, Labor and Social Services, in cooperation with İŞKUR, women are encouraged to work in different positions such as station manager, front-line salesperson, market salesperson, shift manager, accounting officer and administrative affairs specialist.

When stations with female employees were compared to other stations in terms of customer satisfaction, it was observed that stations where women worked had 3 percent more satisfaction in 2019 and 6 percent more satisfaction in 2020. "Women’s Energy at Shell" has inspired sector players that women can work and be successful at every level in the fuel sector, which is known to be male-dominated, and has initiated a transformation in the sector.

Women’s Energy at Shell has won many important awards, including the National Employment Mobilization, Sustainable Business Awards - Women’s Empowerment, Felisa Awards and Women-Friendly Brands awards, with its contributions to women’s employment. It was deemed worthy of the 2022 "Exemplary Company in Energy Award" at the Women Giving Energy to Türkiye Award Ceremony organized by the Ministry of Energy and Natural Resources. Women's Energy at Shell was also included as a sample implementation in the book titled "Women in Business Life, Analysis in Different Sectors during the Covid-19 Process" published by Prof. Dr. Fatma Ayanoğlu, Director of Marmara University Women's Studies Application and Research Center in Economic and Social Fields (ESKAR).

Shell & Turcas continues to support the Foundation for the Support of Women's Work (KEDV), with which it collaborates on various projects on gender equality. Lavender boxes prepared by women at KEDV, which has been working to realize the dream of a society without inequality and poverty since 1986, so that women can live with empowerment and transform societies and the world, were purchased and placed on the welcome table at the renewed stations. In this way, sustainable employment was provided to women in different areas and awareness was raised at the same time.
