Denizli Natural Gas Combined Cycle Power Plant
Turcas signed a partnership agreement with the German RWE AG group, one of the world's largest energy companies, in 2009 to realize a large-scale energy plant investment based on natural gas and established the joint venture company titled RWE & Turcas Güney Elektrik Üretim A.Ş. (RWE & Turcas).
Denizli Natural Gas Combined Cycle Power Plant, with an installed power of 800 MW and an investment cost of approximately 600 million Euros, started commercial operation on 22.06.2013 with the technical acceptance of the Ministry of Energy and Natural Resources of the Republic of Türkiye. The Power Plant, which has an annual electrical energy production capacity of over 6 billion kWh, is operated by RWE & Turcas, which is based in our country with all its units and functions. RWE & Turcas' paid-in capital is at the level of TRY 1.1 billion and there is no financial debt on its balance sheet. The power plant, which has been in operation since 2013, has created value with an average high availability rate of over 92% during this period. With its production flexibility, the power plant responds flawlessly to the load-up/load-down instructions of the system operator TEİAŞ and supports the grid and supply security. Also operating in the ancillary service markets with its production flexibility, the power plant is one of the main service providers of TEİAŞ in the secondary frequency control task. In addition, it continues to be one of the active power plants in the market by using different trading channels with bilateral agreements and day-ahead/intra-day market transactions. All regulatory and commercial risks encountered in the electricity market were successfully managed, the power plant continued to meet Türkiye's electricity needs with high efficiency during the year and played an important role in the country's electricity supply security. Following the improvements in market conditions and the increase in electrical energy demand, especially in the second half of 2024, it achieved its commercial targets. Within the scope of Occupational Health and Safety at our Power Plant, as a result of the high sensitivity we have shown since the first day of operation at our Power Plant, no lost time incidents occurred in 2024.
