RWE & Turcas South aims to build and operate an 800 MW
natural gas fired combined cycle power plant in Kaklık,
Denizli, which would generate app. 6.5 billion kWh of
electricity per year. RWE & Turcas South filed an Electricity
Generation License application to EMRA on July 9, 2008
and received a pre-acceptance notification thereon. The
company received a 49-year license in April 2009.
RWE & Turcas South completed the land acquisition, finalized
the feasibility studies and obtained the approvals for the
Environmental Impact Assessment in 2008. The company
completed all the necessary permissions for the construction
of the plant and finalized the turnkey contract with Metka
S.A. as the main EPC contractor, brought the gas supply
and grid connection agreements with BOTAŞ, and the
system use and connection agreements with TEİAŞ to a
final stage in 2009.
The construction is planned to start by the end of the first
half of 2010 and the operation to commence by the second
half of 2012. Total cost of the investment is estimated to
be app. EUR 600 million.
