RWE & Turcas North aims to build and operate an 800 MW imported coal fired power plant, which would generate app. 6 billion kWh of electricity per year.
Hence RWE & Turcas North is in the process of site selection for this project and plans to apply to EMRA for a 49-year Electricity Generation License.
RWE & Turcas North plans to finish all procedures concerning
site selection and to make pre-agreements for long-term
electricity and steam sales within 2009, and to conclude
basic engineering works, licensing procedures, and selection
of the most suitable technology in 2010.
It is projected to start construction within the second half
of 2012 and commence operation by 2016. Total cost of
the investment is estimated to be EUR 1 billion.
